What do you like to eat most? Where does your food come from today – and what might your favorite dish look like in the future?
From March 30th to April 3rd, 2026, children and young people aged 8-13 will explore these questions together with the Hamburg-based design and games collective studioplayces and local experts during a week-long workshop!
The participants will investigate various facets of food production, processing, distribution, and consumption, and examine their connections and dependencies on our climate. How will our menus adapt to changing climatic conditions in the future? Drawing on their own experiences, external input, and field trips, the workshop will create a pool of expert knowledge, which will then be incorporated into an immersive digital game. This game will be programmed by the participants and will compile their workshop results in a virtual world. The game will be available for visitors to experience at the White House during the Climate Biennale from April 16, 2026, and during the KLIMASTRÖME Festival in Hamburg from July 25-26, 2026.
The project is a collaboration between the Climate Biennale Vienna and the KLIMASTRÖME Festival Hamburg, and is being carried out jointly with local partners: the Children's Office of the University of Vienna, DOCK - Laboratory for Future Issues, and the White House.
Funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport and the Elbe Culture Fund of the Hamburg Authority for Culture and Media.
